| Video Discription | Grave’s disease is an autoimmune disease where we see hyperthyroidism,that is an increase in the thyroid hormones. Now Grave’s disease or hyperthyroidism is seen in reproductive age group and it has to be treated with thyroid tablets. Also that is what we have to do. Do the basic thing in Grave’s disease or hyperthyroidism is, there is decrease in estrogen hormone. So they have indirectly an effect on the increase in the estrogen hormone. Estrogen hormone is very necessary for building up of the lining of the endometrium, that is it is build up over the first 15 days of the period of a woman, which are helped by these estrogen hormones. So when there is an insufficiency of this estrogen hormone in the body then there will be thinning of the endometrial lining of the body. so Grave’s disease or hyperthyroidism is definitely associated with thinning of the endometrial lining as subsequent decrease in the amount of bleed but does not have any major implications as such but. So it depends on how the hyperthyroidism is treated. So it doesn’t lead to a condition where you actually need to put on estrogen, progesterone combination like that.
