In this vlog we visited the most famous and divine temple located in the coastal city of Udupi in Karnataka - Shri Krishna Mutt. Its was around 7 to 8km from the Malpe beach . Udupi Shri Krishna Temple is a well-known historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and is an important pilgrimage site in South India.The temple was founded in the 13th century by the Vaishnava Saint and founder of the Dvaita school of Vedanta, Shri Madhvacharya. The temple is famous for its two unique features. Firstly, no one gets a close, wholesome view of the idol of Lord Krishna since it’s a tradition in the temple to worship the Lord through a window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki , the window is exquisitely carved and silver - plated , Secondly, unlike the usual norm of placing the idol of Lord Vishnu facing the east, Lord Krishna’s idol at the temple is placed facing the west. Legends of Krishna Mutt Udupi - one of popular and beautiful story surrounding temple is that , In the 16th century, during Sri Vaadiraja 's rule, Kanakadasa, an ardent believer of God, came to Udupi to worship Lord Krishna. He was not allowed inside the temple since he was from a lower caste. Sri Krishna, pleased by the worship of Kanakadasa created a small hole in the back wall of the temple and turned to his statue to face the hole so that Kanakadasa could see him. This hole came to be known as Kanakana Kindi. Everyone of you must have heard about the famous Udupi hotels spread all across the world. But, do you know that the Udupi cuisine originated right here in the kitchens of Udupi Sri Krishna Temple. So, one must definitely have the Anna Dana offered in temple , you will love it , temple offers free meals to every devotee . To reach here there are regular buses that connect Udupi to Mangalore, Mysore and Bangalore. Also, the Sri Krishna temple is walking distance away from Udupi city centre.
