I've shown you many ruins, and today it is time to enjoy the roses in the Visby Botanical Garden. The "Botan" was created in 1855, an offshoot of the activities of DBW, a private society which stands for "The Bathing Friends" in Swedish. This social and charitable group dates back to 1814, when a group of well-to-do young Visby gentlemen gathered for swimming outings (that's the "bathing" part) and eventually founded the superb Botanical Garden, free to all.
