Work is still pending on the railway tunnel near Katra, posing challenges such as water seepage and weak rocks inside. The rail tunnel, T33, is being excavated from both ends—referred to as T33 P1 towards Katra and T33 P2 towards Reasi. Located beneath the sanctum of Mata Vaishno Devi, T33, formerly known as T1, spans 3200 meters.
