| Video Discription | How a Para Commando cheated death & kept fighting. Para Commando Shyamraj was born in a small village of Kerala, called Edneer (Dist. Kasaragod) and belonged to a middle-class . After his higher secondary, he got selected in Parachute Regiment & completed his training at Bangalore with great enthusiasm and got selected for special training at Special Force Training Wing (SFTW), Nahan. He finally became one among the great 21 Para SF commandos. After participating in many operations & various adventurous courses in different places, he got a chance to serve in Bhutan also. He completed six years like six days in the Special Forces but he had beautiful memories of six eras to live with now. His sister got happily married and settled in Dubai. He built his own house and shifted from the rented house to his heaven. On top of everything, He was conferred “BALIDAN” as a commando for his achievements. On 4th October 2002 during Op. he was returning alongwith his fellow commandoes, total 15 in numbers, in a truck( Army Stallion) from Kupwara after an operation, fully exhausted after fierce encounter for two days without sleep and food. However, they were full of commando spirit after one day sound sleep at night...alert …. but…suddenly a big sound…he went into 14days of deep sleep. When he woke up no shooting sound….no parade….no commands… only beep sounds and alarms of medicals equipments….at ICU, Base Hospital Srinagar. Thus, he became a battle casualty on 4th Oct 2002 during Op-Parakram. After treatment & rehabilitation in Base Hospital , Srinagar , Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi and Military Hospital, Kirkee, Pune, he realized that his physical condition is such that he can never be fit for performing his duties as a commando. His dreams got shattered. With a heavy heart and a burning volcano in his mind, he voluntarily took retirement from service. As disabled soldier, he was treated and rehabilitated at Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center(PRC). He found love of his life at PRC and got married on 7 Jan 2007 & settled with family. This was an interesting twist in his life.
