| Video Discription | he year of the European Capital of Culture 2016 celebrations in Wrocław is slowly coming to an end. We have seen over 2000 events and millions of participants. December is the time of great junket and celebrations of the year full of cultural successes. However, Wrocław will celebrate twice. On December 15-18, we will experience the Closing Weekend of the ECoC Programme with dozens of various events taking place all over the city, including the multi-performance – The Sky Web – at the Centennial Hall, the premiere of Verdi’s Il Trovatore at the Wrocław Opera, open art days and music festivals: WROSound and Friendship Festival. The cultural year will be concluded with a special edition of New Year’s Eve celebrations, directed by Konrad Imiela, director of Capitol Musical Theatre. The Closing Ceremony premiere of an opera and open art days The final event, summing up the entire Flow Quartet by Chris Baldwin and the Closing Ceremony of ECoC Wrocław 2016 will be The Sky Web – a multi-performance, taking place on December 16 and 17. Under the largest dome in Wrocław – at Centennial Hall – we will learn the story of the city in the 20th century, composed of unique light and sound play, dozens of artists, a large ensemble and the Spirits of Wrocław. Lovers of opera will be delighted by the premiere of Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi at the Wrocław Opera (December 16-18), directed by outstanding Latvian artist, Andrejs Žagars. The play, prepared in collaboration with the Latvian National Opera opens a new chapter in the history of Wrocław Opera. Riga was the European Capital of Culture 2014, in the same year Il Trovatore premiered on the stage of the Latvian National Opera. Verdi’s masterpiece will serve the role of a metaphorical piece that binds both cities together. The enthusiasts of visual arts will surely enjoy our Open Art Days. On December 16-18, the exhibitions such as Photography Never Dies at the Main Railway Station, Wrocław 1945-2016 – a permanent exhibition at the Zajezdnia History Centre, as well as Lviv. 24 June 1937. City, Architecture, Modernism at the Museum of Architecture will be available free of charge. Additionally, the admission fees for the famous Summer Rental exhibition at the Four Domes Pavilion and The Wrocław Europe at the National Museum will be entirely symbolic.
