Yamunetri Temple is Considered to be the abode of Goddess Yamuna. The temple is situated on the side of Bandarpoonch Parbat and near the foot of Kalind Parbat and is the highest temple dedicated to Goddess Yamunotri. History. Yamunetri Temple has a shrine dedicated to the Goddess. There is also an 18th century temple at Gangotri. It was built by Garhwal Naresh Pratap Shas. It was damaged and re- innovated in the 19th century. The temple has been destroyed twice by snow and floods before being rebuilt. Yamunetri is an area of Pilgrimage wherein humans from India and different nations visit to worship the Goddess Yamuna. The shrine, which is positioned in an aspect valley at a top of 3080 m above sea level, has an idol of the Goddess Yamuna that turned into determine in a glacier. About 3,293 m above the sea level, Yamunotri stands proudly with its enormous mountain peaks, gushing waters of Yamuna. River Yamuna,vthe second most sacred river of India, originates in Yamunetri, making it one of the pilgrimage sites in the Chota Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. The Dham is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the protector and preserver of the divine Hindu Trinity ( Brama, Vishnu, and Shiva). These sacred temples of Lord Vishnu are also known as Vishal Badri.
