This tale from the greatest epic poem in human literature, the Mahabharata, illuminates the importance of Dharma and how King Yudhishthira, along with his four brothers and their Queen, Draupadi, ended their reign and ascended to heaven, ever accompanied by Dharma. This is from the Anam Cara Meditation Foundation Thursday evening meditation program on 8/13/2020. Sister Nivedita, a disciple of Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, tells this story in her collection Cradle Tales of Hinduism, which she wrote in the late 19th century. Sister Nivedita was born in Ireland and was a teacher in London when she met Swami Vivekananda. Dharma is at its lowest ebb now and we all need to stand for dharma, righteousness, in our own lives. Dharma Shakti, the power of Dharma, embodied as Lord Krishna, Buddha, Christ and others, will stand by you as you walk in the world aflame with Dharma Shakti.
