When Al-Mansur was in Africa, the Christians mounted a large army of that time, numbering more than 300,000 men, to defeat Al-Mansur. However, immediately after hearing this, Al-Mansur returned to Iberia again and defeated the army of King Alfonso VIII of Castile at the Battle of Alarcos on July 18, 1195.
