For more than two decades, the people of the neglected south-west have been waiting for a bridge over the Pramatta Padma. Therefore, announcing the date of inauguration of Padma Bridge is a different joy for the people of South West including five districts of Dhaka Division. They say that the opening of the bridge will improve the communication system of the capital with the south, which will lead to a huge expansion in trade and commerce. The much awaited bridge opening date has been fixed, this news is a source of pride for us especially for the people on the banks of Padma. Work is underway to construct murals and plaques for the official inauguration of the bridge. Two 40-foot-tall murals are being erected at Mawa and Jajira. The two murals will feature portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The inaugural plaque is being constructed next to it.
