| Video Discription | The Burlington Northern was a freight railroad created on March 2nd, 1970 with the merger of the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Chicago, Burlington and Quincy, and Spokane Portland and Seattle Railroads. For the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Burlington Northern, I thought it would be appropriate to go back and look at some BN locomotives I’ve captured in more recent years on BNSF freight trains. We will see locomotives painted in both the classic Cascade Green and Black scheme as well as the more recent BN “Executive” or “Grinstein” scheme of the 1990s. Additionally, we’ll see a beautifully restored Burlington Northern SD9, number 6234, running on the Minnesota Transportation Museum’s Osceola and St. Croix Railway.
