It happened after Russia launched a failed attack at the weekend. 400 Russian soldiers assaulted a concrete factory in the city centre, but then got surrounded by the Ukrainians. Meanwhile Russia is hitting the city with glide bombs and rockets. Putin launched a new front in his war last month with a surprise attack on Ukraine’s second-largest city. The aim seems to have been to stretch Ukrainian forces on the front.
