| Video Discription | Our 29th upload features the Maestro and Srimathi, with the double mirdangam accompaniment of the legendary Palghat Mani Iyer and his son Palghat Rajamani. This was a brief but extremely popular combination during the mid 1960s with the mirdangam duo seen on stage with all the great artists of the day. This particular concert took place in Chennai in April 1965. Typical of a Lalgudi concert, it is a feast of melody and laya with the swara passages reminding one of a symphony. Sadly the mirdangam thani avartanam is missing in the original source recording. Our apologies to the rasikas for this.
