| Video Discription | Hi all. I recently bought a new laptop, and the lid switch just wouldn't work. I finally pulled it apart to find out that A) Dell left the magnet off of my laptop or B) somebody pulled it apart, and then sold it to me as new. I'm guessing A was true, and this was a return to Dell. I bought it off of Ebay as being "new without packaging." I probably shouldn't have done that, but we live and learn. I already have a week of setup in getting the computer how I like it, so I have to fix this. By the way, this is the video I watched to see how to remove the bezel without breaking things is here. https://youtu.be/g8MdzX0OZAg. I used a 1/8 diameter by 1/16th thick neodymium disk magnet to put into the lid. It was a little too thick and not quite big enough around, so I am guessing a 1 mm thick by 4 mm diameter magnet should be about right. Still, I wedged it in, secured it with a tiny sliver of wood, and put fast setting epoxy in place, and I am guessing I'll never have a problem with it again. -PlXYClLjlA |
