| Video Discription | I got my first kit from Mel Science https://melscience.com/en/ and did the tin hedgehog experiment. It was really easy to do and I like that the experiments are a bit more advanced than mixing vinegar/baking soda. The bisulfate is pretty acidic and the tin (II) is a slight irritant I believe, but the set up made it easy for the kids to do most of it themselves. The reaction involves tin (II) chloride being dissolved in a bisulfate solution and then a chunk of zinc is added. As the tin metal is reduced on the zinc it forms spikes like a hedgehog. Later there was a sizable chunk missing from the zinc which had oxidized and gone into solution. UyQaydGT9A8 |
