As an amputee and a mom, it's sometimes tricky to go hiking with limited mobility... and kids. But Jodie has never been one to miss out on the fun. See how this hike goes for our family! About the hike Hikers can experience two mighty waterfalls in the Cascades foothills, just about an hour east of Eugene, Oregon. Koosah Falls and Sahalie Falls are iconic Oregon waterfalls, and you can visit both along one loop trail. But how would two small kids, an elderly dog, a gear-hauling dad, and a one-legged amputee handle a three-hour hike over hilly, sometimes muddy terrain? Any sort of mobility condition can make hiking all the more challenging. That’s something Jodie knows from years of using a prosthetic leg. Usually, trails that are considered good for kids are trails we consider “good risks” for us to try as a family. They can also be good for someone who walks but has to take into account any sort of mobility condition. But that doesn’t mean they’re easy.
