| Video Discription | We've created the WheelEasy access information web app to provide people with mobility needs vital to know accessibility details. We are encouraging volunteers across Sydney, NSW, and the whole of Australia to add access information to our map. At the moment, 9 out of 10 people with mobility impairment find access information hard to find. It's scattered all over the web, it's buried on different sites, it's often not up-to-date, it can be inaccurate, or sometimes it's not available at all. Mobility impaired people and their families and friends can spend hours searching for the information they need, making many phone calls; just to go for a simple day or evening out together. At present there's no one place where all this information is gathered together, or where people can share what they know with others. So we built the WheelEasy access information web app. It's a sort of Tripadvisor for everything to do with access. A one-stop-shop that brings together all this information into one place. No more researching beforehand - it's designed for mobiles, so you can see what's nearby you, and be spontaneous, just like everyone else. Most importantly, the site grows by crowdsourcing the information, asking everyone to share what they find out about access. You could say that WheelEasy is finally democratising access information. We started out in Sydney nearly three years ago (where we now have over 1400 places on our map), and now want to take WheelEasy nationwide, Anyone can add access info to WheelEasy, but we think that creating a network of volunteers across Australia will be the best way of helping to build up this info into a valuable resource for people who need it. So we've designed in a volunteering aspect to the web app. Our aim is to encourage volunteers to bookmark WheelEasy on their phone's homescreen and then, while going about daily life (going to the park with family, visiting the cinema with friends etc), when volunteers have the chance, add places they come across.
